Senegal beat Egypt in the AFCON 2021 Final on Sunday, with Sadio Mane’s decisive penalty in the penalty shootout.

 The Senegal team returned home before the warm welcome of the home fans.

To date, the Senegal team has brought the trophy home and created a rare sight. Thousands of fans poured into the streets to celebrate with Sadio Mane and his teammates.  A large number of armed police and horses were mobilized to control the mob. 

Speaking of the win, Mane said: “When I missed the first penalty, it was a big punch for me.”

“But my teammates came to me and said, ‘Sadio, we lose together and we win together. We understand you. You’ve done too much for us – keep it up.’ That made me stronger and I think it made the difference when I got a second chance to do it.”

Meanwhile, captain Kalidou Koulibaly also praised Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and called him the best player in the world.

“It was a tough game and a tough tournament. We did it with our teammates and our strength.”

“Our goalkeeper is the best in the world and we won the title. We feel happy. We knew it would be difficult to win the Africa Cup of Nations but today we did, “  Koulibaly shared his joy with the press.

It is known that the Chelsea goalkeeper has been voted “Best Goalkeeper” with 3 clean sheets in 5 matches at AFCON 2021.
