Januzaj shines to help Real Sociedad knock Atletico

The former MU player scored the first goal of the match, opening a 2-0 victory for Real Sociedad against Atletico Madrid at dawn on January 20 (Hanoi time).

Real Sociedad has a confrontation with Atletico in the round of 16 of the Spanish King’s Cup. Two goals from Adnan Januzaj (minute 33) and Alexander Sorloth (minute 47) helped the home team win 2-0 to enter the quarterfinals.

In the 33rd minute, Januzaj headed high after a cross from the right. The ball did not shake the net of goalkeeper Jan Oblak but just rolled over the goal line to bring the opener for Real Sociedad.

At the beginning of the second half, Felipe handled awkwardly before the closeness of Mikel Oyarzabal. Then, Sorloth went up to get the ball, beat Oblak in a face-to-face situation, setting a 2-0 victory for Real Sociedad.

In the remaining minutes, Atletico also tried to find a goal but failed. They accepted to bid farewell to the King’s Cup in the round of 16.

After the match, coach Diego Simeone admitted Atletico had difficulty when the opponent caught up with the game better. Meanwhile, defender Mario Hermoso regretted when his team missed the opportunity before conceding a goal.

In the last 3 matches, Atletico Madrid are not in good form. They drew Villarreal (La Liga) and lost to Athletic Bilbao (Spanish Super Cup semi-final), Real Sociedad (King’s Cup).

With this result, Real Sociedad won the right to the quarterfinals with Valencia, Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano, Mallorca and Cadiz. The remaining two names will be determined in the matches Real Madrid – Elche and Athletic Bilbao – Barca.
